Hearsay specializes in new American cuisine and creative craft cocktails served in a warm, inviting and distinctive atmosphere, with outdoor garden dining available during warmer months.
Located in the lower level of Ashland’s famous “Old Pink Church”, Hearsayis an inviting downtown restaurant and lounge with beautiful outdoor garden patio dining and frequent live musical entertainment. We are focused on providing guests with an outstanding dining, social and entertainment experience.
Hearsay’s modern take on American cuisine and craft cocktails combines with the distinct atmosphere and music of the Jazz Age to create a space that is warm, inviting, and unlike any other in Southern Oregon. Situated just below the beloved Oregon Cabaret Theatre and a short three-minute walk from the world-renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Hearsay is ideally located for a delicious dinner and cocktails before an evening at the theater.
“Hearsay is wonderful! Food is imaginative, and always well prepared. The restaurant itself is lovely and cozy, but there is nothing quite so magical as a summer evening in their garden.”
When you step through Hearsay’s doors, you’ll be treated to an experience you won’t soon forget. And, as our name implies, we hope you’ll tell your friends about us, too.

Hearsay was such a treat
Hearsay was such a treat! …. The garden feels like a beautiful oasis. It’s such a pleasant spot to eat a yummy meal. The drinks all looked like they were prepared with a lot of love. The scallops, though small were delicious. All of our food was really good. We were pleasantly surprised by this sweet place.

Simply outstanding
I am a local and have been to Hearsay many times over the past few years. The service, quality of food, and drinks are simply outstanding! With so many restaurant choices in Ashland, Hearsay is my go-to establishment for a brunch with friends, business lunch, or romantic dinner. A lovely garden at the back of the speakeasy decorated restaurant is a romantic hidden gem, and the piano inside a lovely focal point for evening entertainment.

Live piano music was a treat
Food was delicious, servers were great, and the atmosphere with live piano music was a treat.

Super classy
Super classy! I’ve been here for pre-theater brunch and the food is wonderful. I have also visited just for drinks. Best dirty martini I have had in Ashland. The staff is my favorite. They always spend a little more time and add a little something extra! Love the decor and the patio is perfect!

Love the ambience
Drinks were great, love the ambience, delightful bartenders! Oh, and the pear tartine was absolutely scrumptious.

Found a winner
First time in Ashland – found a winner… Loved the decor, and perfect food! We had steelhead and chips and the steelhead with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Wonderful drinks complimented perfectly done dinners; a dessert special (hard cannoli shells filled with whipped chocolate and avocado dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts) was CRAZY! Very attentive wait staff. I want to go back!

A “must visit” for our small group
We have visited Ashland 2-3 times a year for many years, and each visit includes a dinner at Hearsay. It’s definitely a preferred restaurant, and between the quality of the food and its proximity to the theaters is a “must visit” for our small group.

The atmosphere was amazing
This beats any restaurant we have been to anywhere. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff was over the top…attentive, kind, wonderful service. The food was 2nd to none. We will definitely be back. Our server, Monya, was not only gorgeous on the outside but on the inside as well. We felt like we knew her for years! Thank you for a fabulous evening from start to finish!

Everyone in our party was happy
If you are in Ashland, OR, come here for a fantastic meal! Cocktails, starters, entrees, and ambiance. We had the clam linguini, roasted duck, and the hamburger. They dealt with our dietary needs and were on spot with the service. Everyone in our party was happy!

Absolutely stunning experience
Absolutely stunning experience. I look for several characteristics in what I consider an outstanding restaurant and seldom find them all in one place…Hearsay, in downtown Ashland, Oregon, is one of those precious gems exemplifying all that I look for… brilliantly put together with a decor out of a 1920’s NYC jazz club. Stunning paintings of jazz scenes done by an artist from Mexico adorn the walls. In the background is a jazz soundtrack…service was gracious and attentive…menu was varied and our choices delicious…Not to be missed!
